Founder & Managing Partner

Aleem Ahamed


Aleem is the principal investor in Caloah and leads all aspects of the firm’s investment process as well as operations. He chairs the board at each of Caloah’s portfolio companies and is wholly responsible for their ongoing performance and growth.

After spending nearly 10 years in the financial services industry, Aleem joined The Regency Group in 2013 and was responsible for all aspects of the business including the formation of TRG Capital Corp., Caloah‘s predecessor, and the establishment of real estate development operations. Aleem was also responsible for overseeing the rejuvenation and growth of Regency Auto, the firm’s longstanding retail automotive operations, where he became a shareholder in 2013 and divested participation in January 2019.

Prior to that, Aleem worked with Bank of Montreal in a variety of capacities in both Vancouver and Toronto including Corporate Finance, Real Estate Finance and Commercial Banking as well as spending time in Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI where he was part of the team that acquired and integrated Marshall & Ilsley Bank. Following his time at Bank of Montreal, Aleem worked with Aver Media LP, a media bank founded in 2006 (majority-owned by HOOPP), where he had responsibilities within Corporate Development and Merchant Banking operations.

Aleem graduated from Duke University in 2004.

Executive Vice President

Alyssa Bosch, CPA, CA, CBV


Alyssa is a core member of Caloah‘s team and has a broad mandate within the firm that includes investment decision-making, due diligence and portfolio management. In addition to these responsibilities, Alyssa leads our FP&A practice and is responsible for accounting, tax, and internal reporting for Caloah and works with principals on strategic planning and business strategy.

Alyssa joined us in 2020 from VCA Canada where she held the position of Assistant Controller and was responsible for overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements, supporting stakeholders with financial decision-making and completing valuation and due diligence work for 35 acquisitions over her two and a half year tenure. Prior to VCA, Alyssa spent 6 years at KPMG LLP where she worked in the tax and assurance departments and earned her CPA, CA designation.

Alyssa earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business and earned her CBV charter following completion of the CPA, CA program.

Associate, Investment Management

Brenna Thomson


Brenna is a contributing member of Caloah’s investment management team and plays a supporting role in all aspects of deal execution, including decision-making, due diligence, and portfolio management. Additionally, Brenna supports the FP&A team with accounting, tax, and internal reporting.

Prior to joining Caloah in June 2022, Brenna was an experienced senior associate in the Corporate Finance & Business Development team at KPMG LLP Toronto. She was responsible for understanding high priority industries through market research and supported deal origination and marketing, financial due diligence, and market outreach efforts.

Prior to KPMG, Brenna spent 2 years at Deloitte LLP Vancouver on the Valuations and Modelling team, supporting stakeholders with financial decision-making and completing valuation and due diligence work. Brenna also held roles with Barclays UK, and Origin Markets, a capital markets fintech start-up.

Brenna holds a Master of Science in Finance and Banking from Cass Business School (London, UK) as well as a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, spec. Finance from Western University (London, ON). Brenna was a member of the varsity track team at Western and ran professionally for Team Canada.

Senior Associate, Investment Management

Ammar Bashir


Ammar joined Caloah in 2023 and is a key member of our investment management team. His responsibilities encompass all elements of deal execution, from origination to closing, including transaction underwriting and due diligence. In addition to his role in deal making, Ammar plays a supporting role in the management of select portfolio companies where his diverse background allows for substantial value creation.

Before his time with Caloah, Ammar spent time at Seaspan Shipyards spearheading financial analyses of a $4B contract negotiation and subsequent project management. Prior to Seaspan, he spent 3 years in Corporate Development at Descon Corporation, one of Pakistan’s largest construction conglomerates where he managed a 9-figure diversified investment portfolio. At the outset of his career, Ammar earned his CPA, CA designation in Vancouver, BC and subsequently spent two years at PWC in audit.

In addition to his CPA, CA designation, Ammar holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus in Accounting & Finance from the University of British Columbia.

Director, Finance

Sam Badiei, CPA, CA


Sam oversees accounting, internal reporting, and systems administration for Caloah.  She also participates in the due diligence process of new portfolio companies.  Prior to joining the firm, Sam earned her Chartered Accountant designation with MNP and currently serves as the Director of Finance with the HR Macmillan Space Centre.

In addition to her CA designation, Sam attended Simon Fraser University where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Accounting.
